How we help
A daughter caring for her mom with Alzheimer’s Disease...
A daughter caring for her mom with Alzheimer’s Disease was feeling overwhelmed and depressed because her mom would only accept help from her and was quite demanding. She needed to work but couldn’t. The family consultant helped her set some goals that would help improve her situation. After six weeks, the daughter had seen a physician about her depression and was put on an antidepressant, joined a support group about setting boundaries, made a list of activities she enjoyed and attempted to do at least one each day, and tried being more positive with her mom. With a more positive attitude, her mom was more accepting of outside help and the daughter was able to seek employment.
A forward-thinking gentleman who has no local family and a limited support system asked for an assessment...
A forward-thinking gentleman who has no local family and a limited support system asked for an assessment so that, should he need assistance in the future, he’d have an agency connection. With an upcoming outpatient surgery, he needed some help afterwards. Instead of doing an assessment, the care manager gave him some resources related to the surgery. He called at a later date and requested some help in considering a move. The care manager researched places that might fit his preferences. He toured them and now has ready options when he is ready to move. He has established a relationship with the care manager and is secure in knowing someone understands his situation and can advise him as his needs change.
